Mobile safe for mutual data
April 24, 2008
Teamwork is a hot topic. Although data security is still frequently a sticking point. Now T-Systems and Microsoft have developed a solution that ensures data exchange – worldwide.

PLATON (Platform for Orchestrated Engineering Networks) is the name of the platform that T-Systems presents together with Microsoft within the scope of a pilot at this year's Hanover Trade Fair. The software guarantees secure data exchange without having to invest in an additional, extensive infrastructure. It enables teams to access their local engineering data, exchange mutual data and engage in cross-company collaboration around the globe.
New element for the security chain
With PLATON performance specification documents or BOM tables can be copied to and saved in a so-called SDC (Secure Data Container). The file is provided with an access rights list for the recipients and is encrypted. Each SDC gets a worldwide unique ID number and a bill of receipt which is used to identify the contents.
Senders only need to have the PLATON client software on their PC, a USB stick with their signature and Internet access and they can specify the access conditions and rights for recipients via the client's interface. On the recipient side, the PLATON client confirms receipt of the data, authenticates the recipient and shows which contents are in the SDC and starts the necessary application when opening the file.
