The network grows with customers

June 15, 2009

Well connected thanks to MPLS: Atel has obtained network services from T-Systems for three years. Now the international energy company renewed its contract prematurely.
Reliable performance delivers energy: T-Systems will continue to expand and operate Atel’s Europe-wide company network until 2011. The IP network already connects all international locations. And thanks to individual virtual private networks ( VPNVPN
Virtual Private Networks are made-to-measure, network-based voice solutions that enable companies to integrate multiple locations into a single network – without the cost of setting up their own corporate infrastructure. A VPN supports applications such as central dial-in, central switchboard, teleworking, customer telephone services and contact management.
) it can be expanded as desired. T-Systems individually adapts the Atel network to the respective locations and regional circumstances, thus supporting the leading Swiss energy provider’s international expansion. Atel’s entire data traffic runs over the net: Using MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching), the company can flexibly determine which business-critical applications have priority on the information superhighway. The utility company also benefits from MPLS because this technology optimally utilizes the net’s bandwidth.

More power in the net

“Thanks to the modular pricing model we can concentrate on our core business without incurring investment risks. And T-Systems offers first-rate network services worldwide,” says Dr. Adalbert Gebhart, CIO of Atel, adding: “With T-Systems’ high-performance solution we have a firm handle on our data traffic in every country.” Siemens, Rosenthal, Emhart Glass and the Munich Airport, among others, also rely on T-Systems’ MPLS expertise in addition to Atel.
